The new Ashgabat International Airport was built to replace the existing facilities and respond to Turkmenistan's rapidly growing domestic and international passenger traffic. Inspired by the national symbols of Turkmenistan, the terminal hosts 14 million passengers a year to IATA Class A standards, with an enclosed area of approximately 150,000 m² and 24 bridged gates.

As Project Coordinator for Polimeks Construction, Fatma managed and coordinated all design stages according to the client's requirements, directing the main designer NACO and the construction designers Tekeli-Sisa and Turgut Alton Architects. She led the Architectural Coordination Group of eight project managers and 26 project chiefs and specialists, followed planning, estimating, administrative and purchasing activities with the coordination group, and ran the consultant approval cycle with ILF and the State Civil Aviation Department.
